A Train "Wreck"

In middle school I took one semester of French and considered it to be very boring. I moved on to 2 semesters of Spanish, even though my teacher reminded me of a pedophile. By the time I got to high school, I, again, wanted to try something new. I took 2 semesters of Japanese and loved it. After passing the class, I vowed to go to Japan.  

Today, I am in Switzerland.

I would have benefited from continuing that middle school French class today!! (A lesson for students who ask "why?") I have realized that if you want to learn a foreign language, just go to the country of that language! I have been forced to ue all of the little French I know, the same French that I thought was boring in school--the same French we laughed at as kids because we only knew how to say hello, yes, no, goodbye and my name is... and the infamous "there you are!", voila! After landing safely in Geneva, I not only had to purchase a train ticket, but also figure out how to get on/off the train for a 2 hour ride! Keep in mind that I do not even ride public transportation in the United States! :) While I got confused a few times and missed a train (because I only had 6 minutes to transfer my belongings--3 luggage cases--and find the train!), I called my friend who helped to sponsor this trip, Wendi. She guided me every step of the way and sent someone, Meagan, to assist me the rest of the way. (Picture left: Aigle, Switzerland)

What did I learn so far? Learn as many foreign languages as you can! :D
