Volunteering for the Team Sizzle Fundraiser for Sickle Cell Awareness

September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month! Two time outside linebacker, Terrell Suggs, #55 of Baltimore Ravens in celebration of his birthday and in conjunction with his newly formed entertainment company, Team Sizzle Worldwide, Suggs will host the inaugural Annual Team Sizzle Worldwide Celebrity Weekend, partial ticket sale proceeds of which will help all "Imagine a World Without Sickle Cell" by benefit-ting the William E. Proudford Sickle Cell Fund, Inc. Birthdays are celebrations of life, and in appreciation of the blessings bestowed upon his own, Suggs is determined to assist in the improvement of others'. Inspired and impassioned by a recent encounter with a teen who suffers from Sickle Cell, Terrell has decided to direct energy toward funding compassionate care and research for those who suffer from the disease. He therefore has invited his celebrity friends (i.e., Reagan Gomez, Jazsmine Lewis, Winky Wright, Hosea Sanchez, Kelita Smith, Gary Sturgis, Jill Marie Jones, King of Bling to the Stars-Chris Aire, etc), esteemed members of the community, sponsors, press and the Baltimore community at large to assist him in his efforts.

The William E. Proudford Sickle Cell Fund, Inc. partners with major institutions in the Mid-Atlantic area in order to provide an ongoing source of funds earmarked to support sickle cell awareness, education and research. They currently have a commitment to provide funding for the Nemours Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children and Johns Hopkins Sickle Cell Center for Adults.

While volunteering with other queens, I was able to meet some of the VIP guests of the event. Although I did not take a picture with T-Boz of TLC, I was able to meet her. She currently has sickle cell and proudly supported the efforts of Terrell Suggs. This was a fun time!
