We had a great time today! Jasmine, Lia, Montressa and I volunteered for the KidWalk with Rachel and Naqueldon. We helped out by selling raffle tickets and being the "cheerleading squad" when the participants finished the race. Even after an extremely eventful week at the school where I teacher, I was excited to be helping kids and teens during this event.
The walk was held at the beautiful Naval Academy Stadium in Annapolis. KidWalk is a 5K for families, adults, youth groups, community organizations, companies, and caring individuals to benefit six Annapolis charities: THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF ANNAPOLIS & ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, LIGHT HOUSE HOMELESS SHELTER, ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), VISION WORKSHOPS, BOX OF RAIN, and WE CARE AND FRIENDS.
KidWalk was created by local charities who serve underprivileged children every day. In order to help more
children in a more efficient way, the Boys & Girls Clubs, Light House homeless shelter, CASA, Vision Workshops, Box of Rain, and We Care and Friends have come together in a focused, concentrated effort to raise funds for the thousands of children in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County to bring them shelter, food, education, and fun - a true childhood. After educating myself at this event, I began thinking about becoming a CASA volunteer after the national pageant.
Afterwards, we all went out to eat at Denny's! I had a strawberry milkshare, barbeque wings, 4 pancakes, eggs, and hashbrowns all thanks to the beautiful Montressa. Of course, I crashed when I got home...
